Service Plus is starting the new year off right for Central Indiana homeowners and the animals who find themselves wards of the Human Society of Indianapolis in January.
Homeowners who donate $50 to the Humane Society of Indianapolis from January 1-31, 2012 are eligible for a free furnace check – a $79 value.
We’d love some help spreading the word about this offer. I’m pasting in the press release we’ve issued below. Please let me know if you’re interested.

Service Plus Heating, Cooling, Plumbing Offers Free Furnace Check to Central Indiana Homeowners who Help Pets Stay Warm
AVON, Ind. (Dec. 27) – Central Indiana homeowners who donate $50 or more to the Humane Society of Indianapolis in January 2012 are eligible for a complimentary winter furnace heating system check from Avon-based Service Plus Heating, Cooling, Plumbing.
January and February are the coldest months of the year in Indiana and while homeowners should have gotten their heating systems vetted back in the fall, too many of them didn’t cross that chore off their check list. Many of them will suffer through heating emergencies this winter.
“No one wants to have their furnace go out when it’s cold outside,” said Chris Cunningham, Service Plus owner. “Besides the discomfort of being without heat, emergency calls cost a whole lot more than a maintenance check.”
Cunningham said he came up with the idea of pairing a free service with the Humane Society because he and most of his staff have pets – and they need a consistently warm shelter this winter, too.
“Our company has had a really great year of growth in 2011, and we wanted to give something back to the community,” Cunningham said. “We hope we don’t find any major problems with people’s heating systems, but if we do, there’s a chance we can avoid a serious problem down the road. And regardless of what we find checking out equipment, we’ll know some pets in need are getting the help they need.”
The Service Plus winter furnace check includes inspection of all electrical connections and heat exchangers, lubrication of all moving parts, inspection and testing the thermocouple output and pilot safety switch, repair of any minor leaks, and testing for proper air flow and delivery.
