hybrid heat savings

Just as the MPG rating of a car tells you how efficient the car engine uses its fuel the AFUE, HSPF, and SEER tell you how efficiently your home comfort system is performing.

AFUE – Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency

AFUE calculated as a percentage represents how efficiently a furnace converts fuel to energy. The higher the AFUE percentage, the more energy-efficient or fuel-efficient the furnace. The U.S. Department of Energy established minimum AFUE rating for a furnace is 80 percent.

HSPF – Heating Seasonal Performance Factor
Similar to AFUE, this is the heating efficiency rating for heat pumps. The higher the rating, the more efficient the heat pump. The U.S. Department of Energy established minimum HSPF at 7.7.

SEER – Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio
This is an energy efficiency rating for air conditioners. The higher the SEER, the better the energy performance, the more you save. The U.S. Department of Energy established minimum SEER rating for cooling is 13.00.

Service Plus & Energy StarEnergy Star – The choice for a better environment
ENERGY STAR®
is a U.S. government-sponsored program that helps businesses and homeowners save energy and protect the environment by giving them the information they need to make smart choices about efficiency.
